KYOCERA WIRELESS CORP.  AND BRIGHTSTAR CORP. EXTEND DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT TO INCLUDE AUSTRALIA

Agreement expands availability of product for local carrier retailers

MELBOURNE — 21 September, 2005 — Kyocera Wireless Corp., a leading global manufacturer of CDMA wireless phones and devices, and Brightstar Corp., a leading value-added supply chain management and distribution company for the wireless industry, have added Australia to the growing number of global markets in which Brightstar distributes wireless phones for Kyocera Wireless.

Under the agreement, Brightstar Logistics, the local subsidiary in Melbourne, will distribute Kyocera products directly to the Australian carriers on behalf of Kyocera Wireless.

The expansion into Australia extends Brightstar’s and Kyocera’s ability to provide a total solution to operators through the entire supply chain process ranging from forecasting, customisation, kitting, distribution, through to reverse logistics.

Brightstar’s fully-integrated logistics and customisation facility enables Brightstar to work closely with Kyocera and the carriers to import product and customise and kit to the local carriers’ specifications.

The partnership will also facilitate access to innovative, cutting-edge CDMA product in Australia.

With 29 facilities in 21 countries, Brightstar is one of the wireless industry’s leading global value-added service providers. Founded in 1997, the company serves more than 160 network operators and 15,000 resellers, retailers and agents. In 2004, Brightstar continued its steady growth and posted revenues exceeding US$1.75 billion. With this agreement, Brightstar has extended its support of the Kyocera brand to include all of North America, South America, the Caribbean as well as India and Australia.

“Kyocera Wireless is very pleased to have Brightstar‘s support here in Australia. Line efficiency, time to market, inventory management, and local customisation were all critical components in choosing Brightstar for distribution. With the conviction they have shown in setting up their operation and being headed by a fantastic team, we are convinced they will help us continue our growth in this very important market,” said Paul Hanton, Region Manager, Kyocera Wireless Corp.

“We look forward to growing our partnership with Kyocera by taking our key learnings from other wireless markets and extending those successes into Australia with the local carriers. Brightstar has implemented our proven model with several global carriers, cutting time and costs out of the supply chain and we are encouraged by the opportunity to implement those same successes here in Australia,” said Bernard Katz, Brightstar Director of Business Development—Asia Pacific.

Australia’s first CDMA wireless network was launched in 2000. According to the EMC Database, CDMA currently represents over 8% share of the total wireless market in Australia. CDMA continues to grow in new subscribers at a rate twice that of GSM technology. Once predominantly used in regional areas due to its superior coverage, CDMA’s significant advantage in wireless data speeds have spurred its growth in metro markets.
