BRIGHTSTAR CORPORATION #1 ON TOP 100

MIAMI – December 15, 2003 – Brightstar Corporation, a distributor and provider of value-added services for the wireless telecommunications industry, was named the largest Hispanic business in South Florida by the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. CEO & President R. Marcelo Claure accepted the award on behalf of the company at the annual Top 100 awards luncheon.

Now in its 20th year, the Top 100 continues to highlight the growing success of Hispanic business across a wide variety of industries. Twenty awards were presented at the Top 100 luncheon, including: – Top Three Public Hispanic companies; Top 15 Private Hispanic companies; Community Involvement Award; Platinum Award, recognizing the only company that made the Top 10 in 1983 and made that mark again this year; and Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing an individual who has contributed to the development of the Hispanic business community.

Over 800 business people attended the luncheon with attendees flying in from across the globe to join in the celebration.

Brightstar Corporation was named number one on the Top 100 list. The award was based on annual revenues. In 2002, Brightstar achieved nearly $850 million in revenues and is expected to achieve $1.1 billion in fiscal 2003.

CEO Claure said, “Basing our business in Miami was a key strategy when we launched in 1997. It’s been an amazing six years. To now be honored as the largest Hispanic business in South Florida is a great achievement for our team. We thank the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce for this recognition.”

Brightstar Corp. is a privately-held, minority-owned company that has achieved extraordinary organic growth; almost doubling its revenues each year since its founding in October 1997-$14 million in 1997, $73 million in 1998, $140 million in 1999, $355 million in 2000, $631 million in 2001 and $849 million in revenues in 2002. The company expects to exceed $1.1billion in fiscal 2003.
